Preparing for EMG/NCS (nerve test)

EMG and NCS (Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Study) are tests conducted to evaluate the ability of nerves to transmit electrical impulses and muscles to respond.
The nerve conduction segment of the test involves passage of a small amount of electrical current nerve which is measured electronically. This test can be useful to diagnose nerve entrapment syndromes. Electrical stimulation may produce mild discomfort.
